Jorge Tabarés will carry out his debut as soloist in the Palau de la Música Catalana on the 23rd of September of 2020, as part of the concert series The First Palau, in Barcelona.
The Palau de la Música Catalana is the only concert hall that has been declared World Heritage by UNESCO (1997).

Jorge Tabarés will play in the inaugural concert of the 1st Edition of the International Iturbi Festival 2020, for which he has made a 10 piano transcription of a program of 1 hour of duration that includes pieces by Leonard Bernstein, Tchaikovsky, Manuel de Falla, Liszt and Mendelssohn. The concert will take place on the 22nd of September in the “Plaza de la Virgen” in Valencia. This year’s Festival celebrates the 125th anniversary of José Iturbi’s birth, 40th anniversary of the José Iturbi International Piano Competition, and 30th anniversary of Clemente Pianos, who will help make this year’s Festival possible.

The second concert collaboration of the International Contemporary Ensemble and the College of Performing Arts at the New School will feature a collectively-designed concert program of the OpenICE course at Mannes.
The program will seamlessly blend works by Canadian composer Bekah Simms, Mannes student-composer and pianist Jorge Tabarés Garcia, and legendary American composer Pauline Oliveros. The 45-minute program will be an intimate configuration of audience and instrumentalists in the ground-floor Glassbox Theater of Arnhold Hall at 55 W 13th Street in NYC.

A Tribute to Alicia De Larrocha with Pianist Jorge Tabarés in WQXR Radio
Pianist Alicia de Larrocha would have been 96 on May 23, 2019. In tribute to the great Spanish pianist, we are joined in the studio by her daughter, Alicia and granddaughter, Claudia, with performances by Jorge Tabarés, a pianist studying at Mannes. Tonight’s program features her family’s memories of the great pianist, selections from de Larrocha’s wide-ranging repertoire, and several of her previously unpublished compositions.

Albert Newberry and Jorge Tabares played the Andante in A minor by Wilhelm Friedrich Ernst Bach. Since 1999, Mannes has presented a yearlong music festival every year. Each festival includes more than 20 events performed by the school’s gifted young student artists, distinguished faculty members, and renowned guests, at prestigious New York City concert venues and cultural institutions. The festivals are an outstanding component of the total Mannes program. Curated by Irina Morozova, «It Runs in the Family» will feature music by J.S. Bach and his sons C.P.E. Bach, J.C. Bach, and W.F. Bach.

On May 12th, 2018, was the premiere of the String Trio of Jorge Tabares, was performed on the Bohemian National Hall (NYC) by Tsai I-Yun, (violin) Wen-Guan Li, (viola) Zhihong Li (cello) as part of the European Literature Night Event! This piece is inspired on two poems by the amazing Spanish poet of the 20th Century, José Hierro, who among his many works, wrote a collection of poems titled «Cuaderno en Nueva York» (New York Notebook).

On April 24th, 2018, Jorge Tabares was awarded the Excelence Scholarship by the Fundación Rafael del Pino, to pursue a double-masters in composition and piano at Mannes School of Music, New York. Fundación Rafael del Pino is one of the most prestigious scholarships in Spain.

Tune in April 22th, 2016 at 10 pm for a concert of fantastic fairy tales set to music by Russian composers. The event was recorded at the Mannes School of Music‘s Ernst C. Stiefel Concert Hall on Dec. 1, 2015. Mannes faculty member Irina Morozova, a graduate of the St. Petersburg Conservatory, curated the program which journeys through the magical worlds of Cinderella, the Nutcracker, the Little Humpbacked Horse and more. An international selection of Mannes piano students performed, including Sibel Zeynelova, Lora Al-Ahmad and Georgi Lekov from Bulgaria; Jorge Tabares from Spain; and Ziang Xu and Jiacheng Zhuo from China.
